Privacy Policy

IMPOLS (“IMPOLS”, “we”, “us”) is a workout, food, sleep and recovery tracker for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, Android and Wear OS devices. This Privacy Policy explains what the IMPOLS app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to the IMPOLS app and its Apple Watch companion app.
The short version
- You can use IMPOLS without an account. Without one, your data stays on your device.
- If you sign in, we store your personal data in your account so it follows you to a new phone and so a different account on the same phone never sees it.
- Motion data from your Apple Watch is processed on your device to detect your sets. It is not uploaded.
- We never sell your personal information, and we never use your health or fitness data for advertising.
Information we collect
Health and motion data. While you train with Intuitive training, your Apple Watch’s motion sensors are used to detect reps, sets, range of motion, tempo and time under tension. This processing happens on your device. With your permission, IMPOLS reads and writes data through Apple Health, such as workouts, heart rate, resting heart rate, active energy, steps, sleep, height, weight, food and water you log, and a workout Effort score. You choose what to share and can change it at any time in the Health app.
Content you create in the app. Your logged workouts and sets, routines and plans, food diary, template meals, recipes, custom foods, goals, weigh-ins, trophies, settings and, if you add them, meal photos.
Account information (optional). If you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive the identifier that provider gives us, and your name and email address if you choose to share them (Apple may provide a private relay address). If you do not sign in, no account information is collected.
Diagnostic information. Like most apps, IMPOLS may receive standard technical information from the operating system, such as crash reports, to help us fix bugs. This is not used to track you.
How we use your information
We use your information only to provide IMPOLS: detecting and logging your sets, scoring your effort, showing your recovery and sleep, calculating your food targets and trends, writing completed workouts back to Apple Health, and keeping your account data available across your devices. We do not use your health or fitness data for advertising or marketing, we do not share it with data brokers or advertising networks, and we do not disclose it to any third party without your consent, except as required by law or as described below to run the features you use.
Where your data lives
Your data is stored on your device. If you sign in, your account data is also stored in Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), a Google Cloud service, in your own account area that only you can read and write. This includes your workout history, food diary, goals, plans, settings and meal photos you saved. Each account keeps its own data, so a different account signed in on the same phone does not see yours. If you delete your account in the app, we delete this stored data.
Third-party services
IMPOLS uses the following services to provide its features:
- Apple Health and Apple Watch: reads and writes the health data you allow, under Apple’s own privacy terms.
- Sign in with Apple and Google Sign-In, with Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore and App Check: only used if you create an account, and to protect the service from abuse.
- Google Gemini API: when you use a plate photo scan or a nutrition label scan, the photo is sent to Google to read it and return the result. We use it only to produce that result.
- Open Food Facts and FatSecret: when you scan a barcode or search for a food, the barcode number or search text is sent to look up its nutrition information.
- Apple App Store: processes subscriptions. Payment is handled by Apple, and IMPOLS never receives or stores your payment card details.
We do not use third-party advertising networks or analytics tools that track you across other companies’ apps or websites. Exercise data is provided by RepDB (repdb.co) and photos by Unsplash.
Your choices
- You can grant or revoke IMPOLS’s access to Apple Health at any time in the Health app, under Sharing, then Apps.
- You can back up, restore or export your food log from within the app.
- You can sign out at any time. You can delete your account from within the app, which also deletes your stored account data. You can also ask us to delete it by email.
- You can delete the data on your device by deleting the app.
Children’s privacy
IMPOLS is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above.
